Artists
Each artist stands at the mean of their works on the desk; where two stand level, the one with more works comes first. A single work is a narrow base, and the count beside each name says how narrow. Works of unknown makers stand in the standings of their medium, not here. An artist is not scored; the works are.
A note on method. Works the desk enters from manuscript are scored from a full reading of the text, line by line. Published works are scored from knowledge of the work and its reception; no film is rewatched and no recording replayed for the purpose. The two methods have not yet been calibrated against each other, and a manuscript’s standing should be compared with a published work’s with that in mind.
